Paint use for car paint
The most basic component of car paint is paint, including pigments, metal flakes, mica, glass flakes, etc. The raw materials, mixing ratio and spraying process of the paint are different, resulting in the diversity of the visual experience of the car paint. And precisely because of the different raw materials, the common car paints on the market are also divided into the following three types:
1. Plain paint
Ordinary plain paint is the most commonly used car paint. It is composed of resins, pigments, Additives and other components. Most of the common white, red, yellow and other plain paints on the market are plain paints. Because it is necessary to ensure the purity of the color, the things added are relatively simple, which also leads to a relatively monotonous color, which is far inferior to the texture of pearlescent paint and metallic paint, and the price is relatively low.
2. Metallic paint
Metallic paint is mixed with metal powder, such as aluminum flakes, so when light shines on it, it will have a metallic luster. Compared with plain paint, metallic paint has better sparkle and is more beautiful in the sun; the paint surface is relatively not easy to be scratched, which reduces the cost of touch-up paint and baking paint. The price of metallic paint is between ordinary paint and pearlescent paint, and it is often applied to mid-to-high-end models. In addition, only after the surface is sprayed with varnish, the metallic paint will show luster and hardness, and play an anti-oxidation role. Most dark car paints, such as blue, green, silver, etc., are metallic paints.
3. Pearlescent paint
The mica material is added to the pearlescent paint, and when the light shines on it, complex refraction will occur in the mica particles, and the mica will reflect different hues such as green, brown, yellow and pink, and the titanium dioxide component in the mica has reflections in different directions. The characteristics of different Colors bring the pearlescent paint a colorful visual effect like pearls.
Spraying process of car paint
The coating process of car paint is also a very important part. Before talking about the coating process, let's first understand the structure outside the steel plate. Generally, the mass production process of car paint is divided into two-coating (more in the market) and three-coating (less in the market), which largely determines the final rendering effect of car paint.
At present, the mainstream second-coat car paint is divided into 4 layers, which are electrophoretic layer, middle coat, color paint layer and Clear Coat layer. Among them, the electrophoretic layer and middle coat are the base layers of all car paint spraying.
So, what steps does a car go through to put on a gorgeous coat? First of all, the finished car body without any decoration after passing the inspection is sent to the painting workshop to start painting and complete a pre-treatment process. Then the car body is subjected to electrophoresis treatment, and the car body is immersed in the electrophoretic liquid. The resin and pigment in the electrophoretic liquid will move to the car body under the action of the electric field, so that the car body is covered with a smooth and uniform paint film. This process is very important for strengthening the car body. Corrosion resistance helps a lot. After the electrophoresis completed body is washed and dried, it enters the glue coating and sealing process. The body will be coated with a large amount of PVC glue to improve the sound insulation and corrosion resistance. After the body is glued and sealed, the body begins to be sprayed with an intermediate coating, including steps such as wiping, spraying, and drying. In this process, dust removal is very important, and a very small amount of dust may cause unqualified spraying. Finally, it is polished to make the appearance of the car body paint film brighter and more beautiful. After the middle coat is sprayed, the spraying of the color paint layer starts, and the spraying of the color paint layer is completed by a robot. Next is the spraying of the outermost paint layer - the varnish layer. In the process of spraying varnish, the spray will be sprayed electrostatically, which can make the varnish adhere to the surface of the car body more evenly, so as to improve the quality of the car paint. After the painting is completed, the body spraying has reached the last process-drying. The drying process is very strict in temperature control, usually at 140-150°C, and different factories may have different baking temperatures. The car paint spraying process affects the thickness, hardness and corrosion resistance of the car paint, and the control of these indicators is inseparable from the final effect of the car paint. For example, the thickness of car paint is related to the model and specific parts, generally between 120 and 180 microns, and the Mohs hardness is only 0.4-0.6. The thickness of special parts, such as roof, door panel and front cover, may be slightly different.
